Job:
I currently work for Gulliver’s World, where I am a part of the Catering team. My job role is to serve food to the public, and cater to the needs of those who need help. I have worked in every catering unit amongst the park, ranging from: an ice cream van, to a restaurant. I start work a few hours before opening to help supervisors and others on the park to prepare for the day. I also stay after hours to arrange units for the following day, to ensure the shops can be opened early the next day.
Profile:
I am a drummer, who currently obtains 6 years of experience. Since Primary school, I joined a choir, and performed in venues such as the Echo Arena in Liverpool. I continued this through to High school, where I performed for school masses, before leaving to focus on the drums, where I continued to perform for the school’s GCSE band. I have also successfully produced multiple compositions ranging from various genres, such as: Jazz, Ambient and Waltz. I have performed with various bands throughout my time in education, which has taught me to work well in a team, being able to communicate correctly, and
contribute to discussions. I have gained experience working in studios: performing and working with sound in music. This has given me a strong insight into further aspects of the industry, which has helped me to understand a variety of job roles within music. I am comfortable performing for larger audiences ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand.
College:
In College, I have had experience performing in a variety of venues, which include Project 1, performing in The Playhouse, Project 2, the Studio, where I was also able to contribute to producing a song, and mixing it. Project 3 involved travelling to different High Schools to perform a variety of songs, and taking on a Job role in the music industry. I chose the role of a roadie, which involved setting up the equipment for the performances, and packing it away safely. Project 4 involved a solo performance, in which I chose to perform, “Ghost of you,” which was ultimately successful. This helped me to understand the importance of performing as a solo artist and contributed to my confidence gain. Finally, Project 6 involved performing a select number of songs at the Philharmonic, which I feel helped me with stage presence and confidence while on stage. Throughout my time in college, I have noticed an increase in confidence, from the first project through to the last, as I have visibly grown as a musician.
Interests:
I have a strong passion for thrash metal and heavy metal music, some of my favourite bands include: Slipknot, Municipal Waste, Lamb of God and Anthrax. I attend concerts frequently with my family at every opportunity to support bands, big and small. I find that doing so motivates me to continue to build my music and become better. Outside from music, I enjoy going outdoors and spending time with my family at every possible opportunity. However, I also enjoy gaming, playing games such as Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto when the outdoors is not an option.
Inspirations:
I found my interest in the drums after attending my first concert at the age of 11. I was drawn to the kit, which resulted in me taking lessons a few months prior. After this, I began to discover more artists, which further motivated me to learn new songs with new techniques. Most recently, I have found that artists Joey Jordison, Jimmy Sullivan and Charlie Benante have inspired me most, due to their double bass techniques, which is an aspect that I aspire to learn. I have also gained an interest in further instruments, such as the bass, as inspired by artists such as Frank Bello, Philip Hall and Johnny Christ. I aspire
to learn the instrument, as well as the drums, as I have a passion for rhythm instruments, and it will challenge me further in music.
